Head-On Collision Near Railway Underpass Injures Multiple Passengers
A serious road accident involving two government buses on Tuesday resulted in injuries to thirteen individuals, including a pregnant woman. The collision occurred near the Samalpatti railway underpass at Uthangarai, located in Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri district.
Details of the Accident
The incident took place when a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus, which was traveling from Tiruvannamalai to Krishnagiri with 32 passengers on board, collided head-on with another government bus. The second bus was on the route from Hosur to Tiruvannamalai and was carrying 35 passengers at the time of the crash.
According to the Samalpatti police, the driver of the bus heading towards Krishnagiri, identified as V Srinivasan, 48, from Palacode in Dharmapuri district, suffered a leg fracture in the impact. Among the other injured were Shobana, 32, who is pregnant, and her husband Silambu. Both are residents of Tiruvannamalai district.
Injuries and Immediate Aftermath
In addition to the driver and the couple, ten more passengers sustained injuries. This group included three children. Police officials confirmed that all the injuries were minor for these ten individuals.
All injured passengers were promptly rushed to the Uthangarai Government Hospital for necessary medical treatment and evaluation. The condition of the pregnant woman and the driver with the fracture is being closely monitored.
Following the accident, authorities from the Samalpatti police station have taken official action. A case has been registered in connection with the collision as investigations begin to determine the exact cause of the crash.
