The Himachal Pradesh BJP core committee is scheduled to hold a crucial meeting in Shimla on Tuesday, with significant importance attached to the deliberations as the party seeks to address organisational issues and formulate a roadmap for the 2027 Assembly elections.
Key Leaders to Attend the Meeting
All senior BJP leaders are expected to participate, including State BJP President Rajeev Bindal, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, former chief ministers Shanta Kumar and P.K. Dhumal, State Organisational General Secretary Sidharthan, and party MPs Anurag Thakur, Sikander Kumar, and Harsh Mahajan. MLAs Satpal Singh Satti, Rakesh Jamwal, and Vipin Parmar, along with other state office-bearers, will also be present.
Special invitees include BJP National Vice-President Saudan Singh, Himachal BJP in-charge Shrikant Sharma, and co-in-charge Sanjay Tandon.
Focus on Organisational Strengthening and Poll Strategy
The BJP's top brass is expected to concentrate on initiatives to strengthen the party organisation down to the booth level and prepare a comprehensive roadmap for the 2027 Vidhan Sabha elections. The Opposition BJP is keen to regain power in Himachal and plans to launch an aggressive campaign highlighting what it describes as the anti-people decisions of the Congress government.
Attention will also be directed at the state government's alleged failure to fulfil the guarantees it made during the run-up to the 2022 assembly elections.
Shanta Kumar's Return to Core Committee Deliberations
Although most leaders have been attending core committee meetings regularly, former chief minister Shanta Kumar is expected to join the discussions after a long gap, adding weight to the strategic planning.
