Pubs and clubs across the city are implementing a robust, multi-layered security strategy designed explicitly to prevent narcotics from being smuggled into party venues. This heightened vigilance comes in the wake of increased scrutiny following several drug busts linked to private parties in recent months.
RFID Bands and Enhanced Personnel Deployment
To ensure stringent access control, several upscale venues are introducing RFID-enabled entry bands for their New Year's Eve events. This technology ensures that only verified and pre-registered guests can enter the premises, effectively reducing the risk of unknown individuals bringing in contraband. "RFID technology is a game-changer for crowd control and safety," said Divija, a manager at a popular rooftop lounge in Madhapur.
Beyond tech, there is a substantial increase in human security. Many establishments have doubled their security personnel, hiring additional bouncers and trained staff equipped with handheld metal detectors and scanners. A notable trend is the increased demand for female bouncers to conduct thorough checks on woman patrons, ensuring no one bypasses scrutiny. Mahesh K, a pub manager in Jubilee Hills, confirmed that common concealment items like cigarette packets and small containers will be strictly prohibited.
Multi-Level Screening and High-Risk Zone Monitoring
The security plan involves multiple levels of screening at all entry points. Patrons will face strict bag checks and random frisking before they are allowed inside. Once within the venue, security remains vigilant. Bouncers will be strategically stationed near washrooms and smoking areas, zones traditionally considered high-risk for illicit activities. "Our team will be positioned in all sensitive areas on the premises," added Mahesh K, whose venue is outsourcing seven extra bouncers to supplement its five in-house personnel.
Coordination with law enforcement has been intensified. Many pub owners are requesting plain-clothes police officers to be present inside venues to discreetly monitor for any suspicious behavior. Furthermore, high-end clubs have begun conducting drug-awareness training for their regular staff to help them identify and report potential issues.
EAGLE Force Advisory and Zero-Tolerance Policy
This private sector push aligns with a broader crackdown by authorities. The EAGLE Force has issued an advisory detailing its special teams' deployment across both urban and rural areas of Telangana to prevent the sale, distribution, and consumption of narcotics. Their focused checks will target vulnerable locations, including:
- Party venues, pubs, and hotels
- Highways and transit points
- Areas surrounding educational institutions
- Other known drug-prone zones
The force is also deploying narcotics detection dogs at these sensitive spots. They have warned of strict action against offenders under the NDPS Act and other applicable laws.
Inside the party venues, the zero-tolerance message is being reinforced through digital screens and public announcements. The combined effort from venue owners, private security, and state agencies underscores a collective commitment to ensuring that Hyderabad's New Year celebrations are safe, secure, and free from the shadow of illegal substances.
