IVRS Service for LPG Booking Partially Restored in Lucknow, Bringing Relief to Households
The IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System) service for LPG cylinder booking has been partially restored in Lucknow, providing significant relief to households across the city. This development has led to a noticeable reduction in the long queues that had become a common sight outside gas agencies in recent weeks.
Reduced Rush at Agency Counters as Phone Booking Resumes
Several consumers reported that the restoration of IVRS booking has substantially decreased the rush at agency counters. People are once again able to book their cylinders conveniently by phone, eliminating the need for repeated physical visits to gas agencies.
A gas agency owner in Indira Nagar commented on the improved situation, stating, "The scenario has slightly improved compared to the previous week. Earlier, people had to keep visiting the agency repeatedly. Now that booking through IVRS has started, the lines are becoming shorter."
An agency employee from Thakurganj echoed similar sentiments, noting, "Many consumers have shifted back to phone booking. As people are trying IVRS again, the crowd outside our office has visibly reduced."
Ongoing Challenges for Commercial Establishments
Despite this positive development for domestic consumers, the situation remains difficult for eateries and small food businesses that depend on commercial LPG cylinders. Owners of small hotels and roadside eateries continue to face disruptions due to restrictions on commercial LPG supply, forcing them to explore alternative cooking methods.
Rafiq Ahmed, who operates a tea and snack stall in Aminabad, highlighted the impracticality of alternatives during peak hours. "We attempted using a coal stove, but it takes too long to heat up. During rush hours, it becomes extremely challenging to serve customers efficiently," he explained.
Surendra Sharma, President of the Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association and owner of a hotel in Charbagh, emphasized that electrical cooking options cannot match the speed and efficiency of LPG. "The alternatives simply don't provide the same cooking speed as LPG, which is crucial for our business operations," he remarked.
Broader Implications and Future Outlook
The partial restoration of IVRS services represents a step forward in addressing the LPG distribution challenges in Lucknow. However, the disparity between household and commercial supply issues underscores the need for comprehensive solutions that cater to all segments of consumers.
As the city navigates these supply constraints, stakeholders continue to advocate for more stable and accessible LPG services to support both domestic needs and local businesses.
