A senior official from the excise department clarified that the updated policy introduces a provision enabling restaurant bars to apply for licences to serve imported bottled-in-origin liquor. "Under the new policy, restaurant bars may serve imported bottled-in-origin liquor only if the excise commissioner grants the necessary permission. The provision effectively gives the commissioner discretionary authority to approve such licences," the official stated. This means each application will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, with no automatic approvals guaranteed.
