The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab has fulfilled a year-old promise by naming a roundabout in Jalandhar after Bhagwan Parshuram. The intersection near the Jalandhar bus stand was officially designated as Bhagwan Parshuram Chowk on Monday.
Inauguration Ceremony
Punjab Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat, along with other party leaders, inaugurated the chowk. Adviser to the Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, Deepak Bali, was also present at the event. The ceremony marked the culmination of a demand first raised by AAP Punjab President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora almost a year ago.
Background
Aman Arora had initially announced that a roundabout in Jalandhar would be named after Bhagwan Parshuram. However, the process took nearly a year to complete. The naming is seen as a move to honor the mythological figure and cater to the sentiments of a section of the public.
The new chowk is expected to improve navigation in the area and serve as a landmark near the bus stand. Local residents have welcomed the development, noting that it adds to the city's cultural identity.
