Mysuru: Janata Dal (Secular) working president and former minister SR Mahesh on Tuesday alleged that the voters list in the KR Nagar Assembly segment had been manipulated. Speaking to reporters in Mysuru, he expressed concerns over the electoral rolls in the constituency, claiming that nearly 18,000 voters were untraceable.
Allegations of Voter List Irregularities
Mahesh, who lost the 2023 assembly elections to Congress candidate D Ravishankar, questioned the Congress party's opposition to voter list revision. He pointed out that election-related officials function under the state government and should ensure transparency. On the current political system, Mahesh remarked that money plays a significant role in elections and no politician could claim to be completely honest in the present environment.
Defense of HD Kumaraswamy
Mahesh strongly defended Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy regarding the Ketaganahalli land issue. He stated that the land in Bidadi was purchased nearly 40 years ago through a legally valid sale deed. He accused the Congress government of indulging in vindictive politics by handing over the matter to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) with the sole intention of tarnishing Kumaraswamy's image.
Condemnation of Remarks Against Nikhil Kumaraswamy
Meanwhile, JD(S) Mysuru district unit chief and former MLA Ashwin Kumar, along with MLCs B Vivekananda and CN Manjegowda, condemned KPCC spokesperson M Lakshmana for allegedly making personal remarks against JD(S) youth wing chief Nikhil Kumaraswamy. They demanded an apology and called for disciplinary action against Lakshmana.
