The Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) marked a significant milestone on Sunday, celebrating its eighth Foundation Day in Julana, located in the Jind district. This event was notable as it was the first time the party, which was originally formed in Jind back in 2018, held its annual celebration in Julana. The gathering saw a robust turnout, with party workers and supporters arriving from all 22 districts across Haryana.
Leadership Lambasts Rivals on Governance Failures
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, JJP's national president, Ajay Singh Chautala, launched a fierce offensive against both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress. He squarely blamed the Congress for paving the way for the BJP's rise to power in the state, alleging that former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda acted as the "BJP's B-team," which ultimately led to the Congress's decline.
Chautala painted a grim picture of the current administration, accusing the BJP government of "looting the state." He highlighted a severe breakdown in law and order, stating that incidents of theft, robbery, and murder have become commonplace. "It has become difficult for daughters and women to step out of their homes. Even girl students are not safe in educational institutions," he claimed, questioning Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's assurances on public safety.
Allegations of Anti-People Policies and Neglect
The senior leader further branded the government as anti-farmer and anti-labourer. He asserted that farmers are unable to recover their cultivation costs and criticized the administration for failing to compensate growers or drain water from thousands of flooded acres. Chautala also alleged a major paddy scam, executed through government collusion to purchase produce at unfairly low prices.
In a pointed remark, he noted that while crores were spent on the Prime Minister's recent visit to Haryana, not a single rupee was announced for the state's development. This, he implied, symbolized the central leadership's neglect of Haryana's needs.
Dushyant Chautala Reflects on Coalition and Current Grievances
Former deputy chief minister and JJP leader, Dushyant Chautala, provided a candid assessment of the party's past alliance. He described the decision to go with the BJP in 2019 as a "compulsion," necessary for the party's survival and to enable development works. Contrasting the past with the present, he claimed that under the JJP-BJP coalition, the doors in Chandigarh were open for common people, whereas now they are "pushed around."
Dushyant listed a series of grievances against the current BJP government:
- Halting of annual increments to old-age pensions and cuts to thousands of beneficiaries.
- Turning the ‘Ladli Laxmi Yojana’ into an election gimmick with post-poll conditions that denied benefits.
- Creating ration cards before elections only to cancel lakhs of BPL cards afterwards.
- Mismanagement leading to athletes' deaths and youth losing lives abroad in search of jobs.
- Provoking social tensions and making derogatory comparisons of Haryana's people with animals.
He sarcastically questioned why Haryana, which contributes 40% of India's international medals, is ignored for major events like the Commonwealth Games, which are hosted in Gujarat. "The CM may be from Haryana, but the control over him comes from Gujarat," he quipped.
Dushyant also criticized the deteriorating law and order, saying the Director General of Police sees criminals on luxury vehicles but misses daily murders. He accused the government of intending to shut down public schools by burdening teachers with Booth Level Officer (BLO) duties, sarcastically suggesting turning the entire education department into the Election Commission.
The JJP's 8th Foundation Day celebration thus transformed into a powerful platform for the party to articulate its stance, sharply critique its former ally and rivals, and outline its vision while rallying its base across Haryana.
