In an exclusive interview with Zulfikar Majid, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated that his administration's anti-drug drive is above politics, asserting that 'whoever wants to join can join'. He emphasized that the fight against narcotics is not a partisan issue but a societal one that requires collective effort.
Direct Link Between Narcotics and Terrorism
Sinha drew a direct connection between narcotics trafficking and terrorism, describing them as 'two sides of the same coin'. He explained that the illegal drug trade often funds terrorist activities, making it imperative to tackle both simultaneously. The LG stressed that the anti-drug campaign is part of a broader strategy to ensure security and stability in the region.
Appeal for Public Participation
The Lieutenant Governor called upon citizens, community leaders, and political parties to join the initiative without any political considerations. 'This is not about who gets credit; it is about saving our youth and our society,' Sinha remarked. He assured that the government would provide all necessary support to those willing to contribute.
Sinha also highlighted the success of recent operations that led to the seizure of large quantities of narcotics and the arrest of key traffickers. He reiterated that the administration remains committed to a zero-tolerance policy against drugs.
The interview comes amid heightened focus on drug abuse in Jammu and Kashmir, with authorities intensifying efforts to curb the menace. Sinha's remarks underscore a pragmatic approach, seeking to build a broad coalition against drugs while linking the issue to broader security challenges.
