In a strategic move reminiscent of the 2018 election, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has officially declared a neutral stance for the upcoming February 23 Dumka municipal council election. The party's central leadership has decided not to endorse any candidate contesting for the crucial position of chairperson, a decision that has sparked considerable political discussion in the region.

Shiva Baski, the president of the Dumka district unit of JMM, confirmed the party's position, stating clearly, "The party's central leadership has decided to stay away from the civic body polls in Dumka."
