In a dramatic political statement following their Ghatshila bypoll victory, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has claimed that the Mahagathbandhan's crushing defeat in Bihar could have been completely avoided if RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had sought support from Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Political Mantra That Could Have Changed Bihar's Fate
JMM general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya made striking comments on Friday, November 15, 2025, suggesting a specific political strategy that might have reversed the opposition's fortunes in Bihar. "If Tejashwi ji had come to Ranchi and chanted the mantra 'Haare ka sahara, Hemant Soren hamara', just like devotees chant at Khatu Shyam temple in Rajasthan, the results would have been completely different," Bhattacharya stated at the JMM office.
The spokesperson drew a religious parallel to emphasize his point, indicating that invoking Hemant Soren's support could have worked as a powerful political remedy for the struggling Mahagathbandhan alliance.
Bihar Mandate: Janadesh or Gyanadesh?
Bhattacharya launched a scathing attack on the Bihar election results, dismissing them as not representing the people's true will. He described the mandate as "gyanadesh" rather than "janadesh," alleging it was engineered through the coordinated efforts of central agencies and constitutional bodies.
"Have you ever seen someone contest 101 seats and get 95 or 96 seats? Have you ever seen this in Lok Sabha even? This is not a mandate, this is a verdict manipulated by power," Bhattacharya questioned, referring to the BJP and JD(U)'s impressive performance where they contested 101 seats each and won 89 and 85 respectively.
He characterized the election outcome as "the murder of democracy — a disgusting killing" in Bihar, which he called the motherland of democracy.
Ghatshila Verdict: Rejection of Divisive Politics
While analyzing his own party's significant victory in the Ghatshila bypoll, Bhattacharya presented it as a decisive rejection of BJP's political approach. "Where BJP talks of caste, religion, varna and class to divide society, JMM talks about development," he contrasted.
The JMM spokesperson outlined his party's development-focused agenda, emphasizing their commitment to education, healthcare, employment, women's empowerment and universal social protection. He claimed that the people of Ghatshila had delivered "a tight slap" to the BJP's attempts to divide Adivasi communities.
Champai Soren's 'Political Suicide'
Bhattacharya didn't spare former CM Champai Soren, who recently switched sides to join BJP, describing his move as "political suicide." Using the Sanskrit proverb "Vinaash kaale vipreet buddhi" (When destruction approaches, the mind loses direction), he criticized Champai Soren's decision.
"If it was an accident, he could have come to JMM's super speciality hospital for treatment. But he chose to walk into BJP's morgue room," Bhattacharya metaphorically stated, indicating that Champai Soren had chosen political oblivion by aligning with BJP.
Meanwhile, Champai Soren took to his X handle to defend his position, stating that in Jharkhand, their fight is against "changing demography caused by infiltrators, against religious conversions and for protecting the language, culture, traditions and identity of the Adivasi community."
He expressed determination to continue this struggle despite obstacles, writing: "I clearly believe that elections will keep coming and going, victories and defeats will continue, but our society must survive, our identity must survive, our Adivasiyat must remain, otherwise everything will end."
Jharkhand BJP president Babulal Marandi offered a different perspective on the Ghatshila results, describing JMM's victory as essentially a "victory of sympathy" that overshadowed the failures of the Hemant Soren government.
On the Bihar Assembly election results, Marandi celebrated what he called a historic victory for the NDA, which he attributed to good governance, development and nationalist ideology.
