DMK MP Kanimozhi Launches Scathing Attack on AIADMK's Palaniswami
In a sharp political critique, DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi on Tuesday lambasted AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, accusing him of neglecting critical public issues due to what she termed as a "fear of offending his Delhi bosses." Campaigning vigorously across Tiruvallur, Ranipet, and Tiruvannamalai districts, Kanimozhi asserted that EPS has consistently avoided discussing matters that directly impact the people in his public addresses.
Highway Infrastructure Woes Highlighted
Kanimozhi pointed to specific grievances, emphasizing the lack of overbridges or passes on national highways constructed by the Union government. "People, especially traders, are forced to travel an additional five to 10 kilometers just to reach their villages," she stated, underscoring the practical hardships faced by locals. She criticized both former minister B.V. Ramana from Tiruvallur district and Palaniswami for their silence on such issues, alleging that their reluctance stems from a concern that raising these matters might upset their "Delhi bosses." In response, Kanimozhi pledged to escalate these infrastructure concerns directly with the Union government to seek resolutions.
Unfulfilled Poll Promises Under Fire
Beyond infrastructure, Kanimozhi launched a broader attack on the AIADMK's track record, accusing the party of failing to deliver on past electoral commitments. "AIADMK promised mobile phones in 2016, but not a single person in the state received one," she claimed, contrasting this with the enduring legacy of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, whose television distribution scheme still benefits many households today. This critique aimed to highlight what she portrayed as a pattern of broken promises by the opposition.
Political Implications and Campaign Strategy
The remarks come amid heightened political activity in Tamil Nadu, with Kanimozhi leveraging her campaign trail to draw clear distinctions between the DMK's proactive stance and the AIADMK's alleged passivity. By framing Palaniswami's actions as influenced by central leadership fears, she seeks to position the DMK as a more independent and people-centric alternative. This narrative is likely to resonate in ongoing electoral discussions, focusing voter attention on accountability and local issue advocacy.
