Karnataka: Joy in Tumakuru, Anger in Kolar, Chikkaballapur Over Ministerial Picks
In the aftermath of the Karnataka cabinet expansion, reactions have been sharply divided across the state. While supporters of veteran leader G. Parameshwara erupted in joy in his home constituency of Koratagere in Tumakuru district, residents of Kolar and Chikkaballapur voiced their anger and disappointment over being overlooked in the ministerial picks.
In Koratagere, the constituency represented by Parameshwara, celebrations broke out soon after the announcement. Supporters burst firecrackers and distributed sweets, hailing his elevation as a well-deserved recognition of his long political career and administrative experience. Many described it as a moment of pride for the region.
However, the mood was markedly different in Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts. Local leaders and residents expressed frustration that their regions were not represented in the new cabinet. They argued that the districts have been historically neglected and that the absence of ministerial representation would further delay development. Some even staged small protests, demanding that the government reconsider its choices.
Political analysts note that the mixed reactions highlight the delicate balancing act required in coalition politics, where regional representation often becomes a flashpoint. The Karnataka government faces the challenge of addressing these grievances while ensuring effective governance.
As the dust settles, all eyes are on how the administration will manage the expectations and discontent from different parts of the state.
