Devendrappa Swami, hailing from Gulaguli village in Gadag district's Gajendragad, led a remarkable dual life. For nearly two decades, he served as a dedicated government school headmaster, currently working at a government higher primary school in Mullur (EJ) village.
Simultaneously, he embraced a profound spiritual path, establishing and leading the Jagadguru Shivananda Math. Known for his evening religious discourses delivered after school hours, he maintained a distance from his family, fully committing himself to his educational and spiritual duties.

While the investigation is still in its early stages, preliminary reports suggest that Swami may have been battling depression. However, the exact reasons that drove him to take such an extreme step remain unclear and are yet to be fully ascertained by the authorities.
