Online Enumeration Accelerates in Karnataka's SIR
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka has gained significant momentum, with online enumeration picking up pace. Election officials confirmed that the software used for the process has been upgraded to overlook minor discrepancies, streamlining data collection and verification.
Software Upgrade Addresses Minor Errors
According to election officials, the upgraded software now automatically ignores minor discrepancies in data entries, such as spelling variations or formatting inconsistencies. This change has reduced the need for manual corrections and sped up the overall enumeration process. A senior official stated, "The software upgrade has been a game-changer, allowing us to process entries faster without compromising accuracy."
Impact on Electoral Roll Revision
The SIR aims to update the electoral rolls by adding new voters, removing deceased or relocated individuals, and correcting errors. With the software upgrade, officials expect to cover more households daily. The process, which initially faced delays due to technical glitches, is now on track to meet its deadline. Approximately 60% of the targeted enumeration had been completed as of July 6, 2026.
Election Officials Optimistic
Election officials expressed confidence that the revised rolls would be ready well in advance of upcoming elections. The upgraded software is part of a broader digital initiative to enhance efficiency and transparency in electoral processes across Karnataka.
