Kalyan-Dombivli Civic Body Cracks Down on Election Duty Absentees
The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation has launched a strict crackdown on employees who neglected their election-related responsibilities. With civic elections approaching, the administration is leaving no room for negligence.
FIR Registered Against 80 School Staff Members
Authorities have filed a First Information Report against eighty employees of Pawar Public School in Palava, Dombivli East. These staff members failed to attend compulsory training sessions for election work despite receiving official appointment orders.
Deputy Municipal Commissioner Vandan Ghulwe explained the situation clearly. "We issued repeated reminders and made follow-up calls," Ghulwe stated. "The employees still did not report for training. This created an obstruction in our election preparation process."
Legal Action Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
Assistant Municipal Commissioner Sandeep Rokde took decisive action. He lodged the FIR at Bazarpeth police station in Kalyan. The complaint falls under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Civic officials emphasize a crucial point. Participation in election duties is mandatory for all appointed personnel. Non-compliance will result in legal consequences without exception.
Wider Election Duty Mobilization
The municipal corporation has requisitioned services from multiple sectors to ensure transparent and smooth elections. This includes:
- Government officers and employees
- Semi-government personnel
- Teaching staff from schools and colleges
- Non-teaching staff from educational institutions
All these individuals must contribute to time-bound election conduct. The civic body treats this as a top priority.
Commissioner Issues Stern Warning
KDMC Commissioner and Election Officer Abhinav Goel delivered a clear message. Any officer or employee appointed for election duties on January 15 and 16, 2026, faces serious repercussions for unauthorized absence.
"We will not tolerate negligence during the election process," Goel asserted. "Dereliction of duty will invite similar legal action. Smooth conduct of polls remains our foremost concern."
The municipal corporation has reiterated its position firmly. It will pursue strict measures against anyone who compromises election preparations through absence or non-cooperation.
