Union Minister Kishan Reddy Slams Telangana CM Over 'False Guarantees' in Kerala
In a sharp critique, Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday accused Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of engaging in false propaganda during his campaign in Kerala. Kishan Reddy alleged that the Congress government's claims of successfully implementing its six guarantees were entirely misleading and designed to deceive voters.
Allegations of Failed Promises and Misleading Claims
Addressing a press conference, Kishan Reddy asserted that the guarantees had completely failed in Telangana, with not a single scheme being effectively rolled out. He criticized the Congress for projecting an image of success without any tangible delivery on the ground. The senior BJP leader specifically questioned the status of key promises made by the state government.
- Monthly assistance of Rs 2,500 for women
- Enhanced pensions for elderly and disabled individuals
- Rs 12 lakh support for Dalit families
- A Rs 1 lakh crore allocation for Backward Classes welfare
Kishan Reddy claimed that even Rs 20,000 crore had not been spent on Backward Classes welfare within a year, highlighting a significant gap between promises and action. He also flagged other unfulfilled commitments, such as gold for married daughters, free electric scooters, two lakh jobs for youth, and unemployment allowances, labeling these claims as a bigger deceit than non-implementation.
Criticism of Congress Campaign and Lack of Credibility
Targeting the Congress campaign in Kerala, Kishan Reddy alleged that both the Congress and the Left parties had misled the people, with the latter stalling the state's development for over a decade. He dismissed Revanth Reddy's outreach efforts in Kerala, stating that they lacked credibility and were unlikely to translate into electoral support. Drawing parallels with the previous BRS government, Kishan Reddy accused the current administration of following a similar pattern of making grand promises without any follow-through.
Demand for Probes and Accountability
On the issue of submerged areas in Bhadrachalam, Kishan Reddy clarified that the problem originated from decisions made during the Congress-led UPA regime, asserting that the BJP and the central government had no involvement. He further demanded a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project, insisting that the entire project must be investigated, not just select components.
Referring to corruption allegations against BRS leaders before the elections, Kishan Reddy accused the Congress of failing to act on its own promises to file cases and recover Rs 1 lakh crore. He criticized the Congress for shifting blame onto the BJP, emphasizing that it is the ruling party's responsibility to fulfill its commitments to the people of Telangana.
In his letter to voters in Kerala, Kishan Reddy urged them not to trust the Congress's assurances, reinforcing his message that the guarantees were nothing but empty propaganda. The minister's statements underscore ongoing political tensions and highlight concerns over governance and accountability in Telangana.
