Kolkata's New Town Receives Additional Government Funds for Infrastructure Improvements
The West Bengal government has approved fresh financial allocations for road and footpath upgrades in New Town, Kolkata. This move comes under the ongoing 'Amader Para Amader Samadhan' scheme, which focuses on local infrastructure development.
Enhanced Funding for New Town's Road Network
Authorities have sanctioned over Rs 26.6 lakh to the New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) for repairing multiple road stretches. This follows an earlier allocation of Rs 55 lakh to the same agency, demonstrating continued government commitment to improving urban infrastructure.
Detailed Breakdown of Road Repair Projects
The latest funding will support several specific road repair initiatives across New Town. In the second phase of sanctioning, approximately Rs 8 lakh has been designated for road repair work at Street No 47 and 67 within Action Area I.
Additionally, around Rs 9 lakh has been allocated for road repairs near RR Abasan Tarulia Jheelpa. A further Rs 9.5 lakh will fund road repair work at Street No 74, 87, 89, 91, and 93, also located within Action Area I.
Ongoing Footpath Construction Work
Simultaneously, repair and construction of footpaths are currently progressing in New Town BC and BF blocks. These pedestrian pathway improvements aim to enhance safety and accessibility for residents and visitors alike.
