Koppal SP Plans Security for 2026 Gavisiddheshwar Jatra

District Superintendent of Police Dr Ram L Arasiddi has issued a clear directive to all concerned officials: ensure flawless execution of duties to guarantee a peaceful and incident-free Sri Gavisiddheshwar Jatra. The major religious fair at Gavimutt is scheduled to be held from January 1 to 8, 2026.

Multi-Departmental Meeting for Comprehensive Planning

Chaired by Dr Arasiddi, a crucial preliminary meeting was convened at the SP office hall on Friday. The session brought together officers from various departments to formulate a detailed strategy for the massive event. The primary agenda was to discuss and solidify robust measures for traffic management and crowd control during the week-long jatra.

The SP stressed the non-negotiable need to maintain law and order. He emphasised that every officer must perform their assigned responsibilities with utmost diligence to prevent any untoward incidents. Dr Arasiddi highlighted that the roles of the Gescom, health, transport, and fire departments are particularly critical for the event's success. He instructed all departments to prepare their plans thoroughly, leaving no room for oversight.

Key Security and Infrastructure Directives

Dr Arasiddi outlined specific security and logistical measures to be implemented. A significant focus will be on enhancing surveillance across the entire area. The plan mandates the installation of comprehensive CCTV systems and the erection of numerous watch towers to monitor the crowds effectively.

To tackle the anticipated vehicular congestion, the SP ordered a thorough assessment and finalisation of parking areas and vehicle routes. The goal is to design a traffic flow plan that minimises disruptions and chaos. Once finalised, this crucial information regarding parking and routes will be disseminated to the public widely through the media to ensure awareness and compliance.

Ensuring a Smooth and Safe Pilgrimage

The high-level meeting saw active participation from officials across multiple departments, signalling a coordinated approach. By initiating planning well in advance for the 2026 event, the Koppal police administration, under Dr Arasiddi's leadership, aims to set a benchmark for managing large-scale religious gatherings. The directives underscore a proactive strategy where technology, inter-departmental coordination, and public communication are considered pillars for ensuring the safety and convenience of the thousands of expected devotees.
