KSRTC Cracks Down on Ticketless Travel, Recovers Valuable Government Land

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has taken strong action against fare evasion. In December 2025, its security and vigilance wing conducted extensive inspections across the state. They checked a total of 43,553 buses during this period.

Massive Fines for Ticketless Passengers

Inspectors caught 4,353 passengers traveling without valid tickets. The corporation imposed penalties totaling more than Rs 8 lakh on these individuals. This crackdown highlights KSRTC's commitment to ensuring all passengers pay their fair share for bus services.

Officials also uncovered another serious issue during their inspections. They detected pilferage by conductors amounting to over Rs 1.1 lakh. The corporation has confirmed that disciplinary proceedings have started against those involved in these financial irregularities.

Bengaluru Administration Reclaims Precious Government Land

In a separate but significant development, the Bengaluru Urban district administration successfully recovered government land from illegal occupants. On Saturday, officials cleared encroachments on 16 acres of land across Anekal taluk.

The reclaimed properties include various types of public land. These are gomala land (village grazing grounds), rajakaluves (stormwater drains), and other important public assets. Deputy Commissioner Jagadeesha G led this important recovery operation.

Authorities estimate the value of this recovered land at more than Rs 80 crore. This represents a substantial recovery of public assets that were being used illegally.

Strong Measures to Prevent Future Encroachments

After completing the eviction process, officials took additional precautions. They posted clear notices at all the recovered sites. These notices warn against any future trespassing on the government land.

The warnings state clearly that anyone violating these instructions will face legal action. This demonstrates the administration's determination to protect public property from future encroachments.

Both these actions show government agencies taking proactive steps. They are enforcing rules for public transport and protecting valuable government land from illegal occupation.
