Kolhapur Initiates Land Survey for Major Temple Development Project

In a significant move to advance the ambitious Mahalaxmi Temple Area Development Plan, the regional inspection and evaluation committee in Kolhapur has officially commenced the land acquisition survey process. This critical step follows the state government's approval of the comprehensive development plan, which is valued at a substantial Rs 1,445.9 crore.

Survey Order Issued by Sub-Divisional Officer

Mousami Chougule, who serves as the Chairman of the regional inspection and evaluation committee and the Karvir sub-divisional officer, has issued formal orders to initiate the land acquisition survey. The directive mandates a thorough examination of various aspects related to the properties involved in the development area.

  • Identification of the primary owner and any other rightful owners of the land
  • Assessment of the current status and condition of the properties
  • Determination of the prevailing market rates for the land
  • Compilation of comprehensive assessment reports

The survey team has been given a strict deadline of one month to complete their work and submit a detailed report to the district collector, who represents the state government in this matter.

Development Plan Phases and Funding

The Mahalaxmi Temple Area Development Plan represents one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the region. The state government has already given its approval to the massive Rs 1,445.9 crore initiative, with work on the first phase already underway.

For the crucial second phase, which involves the actual land acquisition process, authorities have allocated Rs 781 crore. This substantial funding underscores the importance and scale of the development project aimed at enhancing the temple precincts and surrounding areas.

Independent Committee Oversight

To ensure transparency and proper execution of the land acquisition process, an independent committee has been established under the leadership of Karvir provincial officer Mousami Chougule. This committee will oversee the entire survey and acquisition process, maintaining accountability throughout the project's implementation.

Focus on Initial Acquisition Phase

According to Shivraj Naikwade, Secretary of the Paschim Maharashtra Devasthan Samiti (PMDS), the initial phase of land acquisition will concentrate on properties located within a 10-meter radius adjacent to the temple at the main gate. This strategic approach prioritizes the immediate temple surroundings for development.

The comprehensive survey will specifically examine:

  1. The total number of properties within the designated acquisition zone
  2. The type and classification of each property
  3. Any ongoing legal proceedings or disputes related to the properties
  4. Other relevant factors that might impact the acquisition process

This systematic approach to land acquisition reflects the administration's commitment to executing the Mahalaxmi Temple Area Development Plan with precision and fairness, ensuring that all stakeholders are properly accounted for in this transformative project for Kolhapur's religious and cultural landscape.
