LJK Founder Condemns Udhayanidhi Stalin's Comments as Immature
In a sharp rebuke from Chennai, LJK founder Jose Charles Martin on Monday categorically dismissed recent remarks made by deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin regarding his mother, Leema Rose. Martin asserted that the comments reflected a significant lack of maturity and a fundamental misunderstanding of his family's political motivations.
Campaign Controversy Sparks Political Firestorm
The controversy erupted when Udhayanidhi Stalin, while actively campaigning in Lalgudi for a DMK candidate, made pointed allegations about Martin's family. He suggested that their multiple entries into the political arena constituted a secretive bid to accumulate power with the ultimate goal of reinstating the lottery business in Tamil Nadu.
"Bringing back the lottery business in Tamil Nadu is entirely a decision for the state government to make," Martin countered emphatically. "Udhayanidhi lacks maturity and treats politics as if it were a mere game." He expressed disappointment that serious political discourse was being reduced to personal attacks and unfounded insinuations.
Defending Family Legacy and Philanthropy
In a robust defense of his mother's character and intentions, Martin highlighted Leema Rose's longstanding and distinguished association with the Rotary organization. He revealed that she is recognized as one of its top donors, a testament to her commitment to philanthropic service and community development.
"Her political ambition is fundamentally about serving the people, a noble aspiration that has been grossly misrepresented by Udhayanidhi's remarks," Martin stated, clarifying that the motivation behind her political engagement is public service, not any covert agenda related to lottery operations.
Clarifying Political Strategy and Future Plans
When questioned about his own role in the upcoming electoral process, specifically whether he would campaign for his mother, Martin confirmed his intention to do so, indicating that an active campaign effort would commence shortly.
Furthermore, he addressed broader political strategy, explicitly stating that there are currently no plans to extend political work beyond the Lalgudi constituency in Tamil Nadu. "Our priority focus remains on transforming Puducherry into a model akin to Singapore," he declared, underscoring a concentrated developmental vision for the union territory rather than expansive political campaigning across Tamil Nadu.
This statement reinforces the LJK's targeted approach, emphasizing deep, transformative work in Puducherry over wider electoral ambitions in the neighboring state, amidst a heated political climate marked by personal critiques and strategic positioning.
