The Maharashtra state government has firmly denied allegations that tourist facilities at Chandrapur Green Valley in Tumsar taluka, Bhandara district, have become inadequate following the site's transfer to the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). This clarification was provided to the Maharashtra Legislative Council on Wednesday.
Question Raised in Legislative Council
MLC Dr. Parinay Fuke raised concerns in the council, questioning whether the facilities at Chandrapur Green Valley had deteriorated after the MTDC takeover. He specifically asked if poor infrastructure was leading to a decline in tourist footfall and negatively impacting local tourism in the region.
Government's Detailed Response
In response, Cabinet Minister Shambhuraj Desai categorically denied all claims of inadequate facilities. He provided specific details to support the government's position:
- Land Acquisition: MTDC has received 0.53 area of land for the Chandrapur Green Valley site.
- Infrastructure Development: Basic infrastructure has been developed and is currently accessible to visitors. This includes:
- A tourist reception centre
- Boundary wall construction
- Internal paths for visitor movement
- Gardens and landscaping
- Other essential amenities for tourists
- Tourism Potential: The site has been officially identified as suitable for multiple tourism activities including jungle safaris, water sports training, and nature tourism.

The government's reply specifically addressed and denied several allegations regarding development challenges:
- Coordination Failures: The government denied that development stalled due to coordination failures between departments.
- Development Plan: Claims about the absence of a clear development plan were refuted.
