Distribution and Digitisation Figures
Maharashtra has achieved 87.79% distribution of elector-specific enumeration forms and 60.44% digitisation under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, officials said on Sunday. According to a bulletin from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, the enumeration phase runs from June 30 to August 8. Against a total electorate of 9,78,54,049, as many as 8,59,05,005 forms have been distributed, while 5,91,42,624 forms have been digitised. Over 1 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are carrying out the exercise.
District-Wise Performance
Hingoli district reported the highest distribution at 99.98%, followed by Jalgaon (99.91%), Buldhana (99.81%), Amravati (99.77%), Wardha (99.76%) and Sindhudurg (99.73%). In terms of digitisation, Ratnagiri topped with 86.03%, ahead of Yavatmal (85.20%), Buldhana (82.66%), Hingoli (82.63%), Parbhani (81.94%), Gadchiroli (80.84%) and Chandrapur (80.02%).
Urban and Other Districts
Among major urban districts, Thane reported 67.97% distribution and 27.56% digitisation. Mumbai Suburban recorded 67.79% distribution and 28.72% digitisation, while Mumbai City achieved 72.37% distribution and 38.88% digitisation. Pune registered 70% distribution and 45.04% digitisation. Nashik reported 85.78% distribution and 57.88% digitisation, while Palghar stood at 79.73% distribution and 39.95% digitisation.
Purpose of the Revision
The Special Intensive Revision is being carried out to update and verify the electoral roll. Officials said it aims to identify eligible voters, remove duplicate or ineligible entries, and ensure that voter lists are accurate, complete, and up to date before future elections. The exercise is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the electoral process in Maharashtra, which has one of the largest electorates in India.
