A 30-year-old man was brutally beaten to death with an iron rod and sticks by his relatives over an old rivalry in Bhusa village under Harpur Budhat police station limits on Thursday night. The victim's parents sustained serious injuries when they attempted to intervene.
Details of the Incident
The deceased, identified as Ramsevak Chauhan, was returning home after irrigating his fields when the accused ambushed him on the way and launched a fatal attack. Family members revealed that the assault was carried out by his uncle Shivcharan, cousins Ranjit and Alok, along with a few others, due to a long-standing dispute over land.
Victim's Father Alleges Brutal Assault
Ramsevak’s father, Ramakant Chauhan, who serves as a village watchman at Harpur Budhat police station, alleged that the accused repeatedly struck his son on the head, stomach, and limbs, resulting in his death on the spot. Ramakant and his wife Chandrawati were also chased and beaten while trying to rescue their son.
Legal Action Taken
The injured were rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared Ramsevak dead. Based on Ramakant’s complaint, police registered a murder case against Ranjit, Alok, and Shivcharan. SP North Gyanendra Kumar confirmed that one named accused has been detained, and police teams are searching for the remaining suspects.
This tragic incident highlights the deep-rooted nature of land disputes in rural areas, often leading to violent confrontations and loss of life. Authorities are investigating the matter further.
