Man Murders Wife Over Suspicion in Parbhani, Surrenders

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A man brutally murdered his 38-year-old wife in Charathana village of Jintur tehsil in Parbhani district early on Wednesday as he allegedly suspected her character, said the Charathana police.

Murder Case Registered

A case of murder was registered with the Charathana police station on Wednesday. The accused later surrendered before the police and confessed to the crime, a police officer said.

Identity of the Deceased

The deceased has been identified as Sumitra Shridhar Gaikwad (38). Some of the locals informed the police that the accused would frequently assault his wife.

Details of the Incident

According to the Parbhani police, accused Shridhar Gaikwad took his wife on a two-wheeler at 5.15 am to their agricultural field along the Jintur-Jalna highway. After reaching the farm, he allegedly picked up a quarrel with her over suspicions about her character. In a fit of rage, he assaulted her with a stick and then smashed her head with a large stone, killing her on the spot.

Surrender and Investigation

Following the murder, the accused went directly to Charathana police station, where he confessed to the police about the crime. On receiving the information, a police team rushed to the spot. A panchanama of the scene was conducted, and the body was later sent to the rural hospital in Jintur for postmortem examination before handing it over to her family.
