Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati will discuss the criteria for selection of candidates for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in a special meeting of the party's state unit on Sunday. She will also review the party's preparedness for the assembly elections scheduled next year.
Frequent Review Meetings
With not more than 10 months left for the elections in the state, BSP's state review meetings have become frequent. Since January, Mayawati has been holding reviews on a monthly basis. In these meetings, she has been emphasising increasing the mass base of the party among all castes and communities and making the party economically independent.
Key Strategy: Social Engineering
Mayawati has already announced that the party will contest the elections solo. Social engineering would be her key strategy for the elections. The party has taken up outreach efforts for different castes and communities, including Dalits, Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Brahmins and Muslims.
Meanwhile, in the Sunday review, office-bearers from the state, district and lower units of the party organisation will be present. The meeting aims to strengthen the party's grassroots presence and ensure a robust campaign for the upcoming polls.
