MGP-BJP Alliance Declared Unbeatable in Goa by Power Minister
In a bold statement ahead of the crucial Ponda assembly seat bypolls, Goa's Power Minister Ramkrishna Sudin Dhavalikar has asserted that no candidate can defeat an alliance between his Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Citing examples from parliamentary and recent zilla panchayat elections, Dhavalikar emphasized the strength of this political partnership.
Confidence in Alliance's Dominance
Dhavalikar highlighted that the BJP-led government in Goa currently has 13 alliance MLAs, and in these constituencies, "no one can raise their heads" against them. This comment underscores the perceived invincibility of the MGP-BJP coalition in specific electoral regions, particularly as the state gears up for the Ponda bypolls.
Key Candidates in Ponda Bypolls
The bypoll features Ritesh Naik, son of the late Ponda legislator Ravi Naik, as the BJP candidate with MGP support. In contrast, Ketan Bhatikar, who previously left the MGP, is now contesting as the Congress candidate. This setup pits former allies against each other, adding intrigue to the electoral battle.
Dhavalikar's Stance on Party Loyalty
Addressing Bhatikar's recent claim of having his "blessings," Dhavalikar clarified without naming him that he cannot support someone who has abandoned the party. This remark reinforces the importance of loyalty within the MGP and distances the minister from any perceived backing of opposition candidates.
Campaign Office Inauguration Event
Dhavalikar made these statements while addressing party activists after the inauguration of BJP candidate Ritesh Ravi Naik's campaign office in Sadar Ponda on Friday evening. The event was inaugurated by BJP state president Damu Naik and attended by notable figures, including:
- Candidate Ritesh Naik
- WRD minister Subhash Shirodkar
- Former minister Govind Gaude
- Former member of parliament (South Goa) and others
This gathering highlighted the unified front presented by the MGP-BJP alliance as they prepare for the upcoming electoral contest.
