Missing Woman Found Alive After Father, Brother Jailed for Murder

In a surprising turn of events, a young woman who was presumed murdered walked into a police station in Madhya Pradesh nearly a month after she went missing, leading to the release of her father and brother who had been jailed on suspicion of killing her. The incident has left police baffled as they now need to identify a headless and partially burnt body that was earlier believed to be hers.

The Dramatic Return

On the night of May 27, Shivani arrived at Khaknar police station in Burhanpur district and told officers that she was alive and well, requesting the immediate release of her father and brother. This development contradicted the earlier assumption that she had been murdered, and investigators are now questioning whose charred remains were recovered from Maharashtra.

Initial Disappearance and Investigation

Shivani went missing on April 24. Her family searched extensively before filing a missing person report on May 1. During the investigation, police discovered that a local youth named Arjun had also disappeared around the same time, with a missing report filed on May 9. It was later learned that Shivani and Arjun had left together voluntarily.

Meanwhile, a headless and partially burnt body of a young woman was found in Jamod, Jalgaon district, Maharashtra. Based on missing person records on the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network Systems (CCTNS), Maharashtra Police contacted Burhanpur police, who suspected the body was Shivani's. Consequently, her father Bapurao and brother Ajay were arrested on suspicion of murder and sent to Buldhana jail in Maharashtra.

Revelation and Confirmation

After learning that her family members were imprisoned for her alleged murder, Shivani contacted relatives and appeared at Khaknar police station. She stated that she had left home voluntarily with Arjun and sought the release of her father and brother. Her identity was confirmed through thumb impressions and government-issued identification documents in the presence of relatives and witnesses, police said. Legal formalities for the release of her father and brother are expected to begin soon.

New Investigation Launched

The case will now be reinvestigated from scratch to determine the identity of the headless corpse. Police are working to uncover the truth behind the mysterious remains and ensure justice is served.
