Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin Files Nomination from Kolathur Constituency
As the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections draw closer, Chief Minister MK Stalin officially filed his nomination from the Kolathur constituency on Monday. Following the formal submission of his candidacy papers, CM Stalin embarked on a vibrant roadshow to directly engage with the public and rally support for the upcoming electoral battle.
Stalin Expresses Confidence in DMK Alliance Victory
In remarks to ANI, CM Stalin projected unwavering confidence in the electoral prospects of his alliance. "Our victory will be very bright. Compared to the last three times, this time I'm witnessing a huge support. This is the United Progressive Alliance. Tamil Nadu is fighting against Delhi. This time, the victory is going to be very big," Stalin declared, framing the contest as a regional assertion against central forces.
DMK-Led Alliance Finalizes Comprehensive Seat-Sharing Formula
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has meticulously structured its electoral strategy, finalizing seat allocations across the 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu. The party will contest 164 seats directly, while distributing 70 seats among its coalition partners to present a united front.
The detailed seat-sharing arrangement includes:
- Congress Party: 28 seats
- Communist Party of India (CPI): 5 seats
- Communist Party of India (Marxist) - CPI(M): 5 seats
- Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK): 8 seats
- Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK): 4 seats
Additionally, several smaller regional parties have been accommodated within the alliance framework. The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) has been allocated 10 seats, while the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will contest 2 seats, ensuring broad-based representation across diverse voter segments.
AIADMK Intensifies Campaign with Second Candidate List
In a parallel development, the principal opposition party, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), has released its second list of 127 candidates for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election. This announcement brings the total number of candidates fielded by the party to 150, signaling a robust and expansive electoral campaign.
The second list presents a strategic blend of political experience and fresh perspectives, featuring:
- Sitting MLAs seeking re-election
- Former MLAs aiming for a political comeback
- New faces introduced to invigorate the party's appeal
Under the leadership of E. Palaniswami, the AIADMK is vigorously campaigning to reclaim governance in the state, positioning itself as a credible alternative to the ruling DMK.
Political Tensions Escalate Over DMK's "Superstar Manifesto"
The political atmosphere in Tamil Nadu has grown increasingly charged following Chief Minister Stalin's recent unveiling of what the DMK terms a "Superstar Manifesto" for the 2026 Assembly elections. This forward-looking document has ignited a sharp and contentious political face-off with opposition parties.
The AIADMK and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have launched scathing criticisms, dismissing the manifesto as a mere "copy-paste" exercise devoid of originality. They have further accused the ruling DMK of indulging in "sticker politics," suggesting superficial governance rather than substantive policy implementation.
In defense, DMK leaders have staunchly upheld the manifesto as a comprehensive, people-driven roadmap firmly anchored in the Dravidian model of development. They argue it represents a visionary blueprint for Tamil Nadu's future, meticulously crafted through extensive public consultation and reflecting the core aspirations of the state's citizens.
As nomination filings accelerate and campaign rhetoric intensifies, Tamil Nadu stands on the cusp of a highly competitive and politically significant Assembly election, with both major alliances mobilizing their resources and narratives to secure a decisive mandate from the electorate.
