Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai Raises Alarm Over Voter Deletions and Election Process
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai has made serious allegations regarding the upcoming municipal elections in Goa, claiming there have been large-scale voter deletions and a concerning lack of transparency in the delimitation and ward reservation planning process.
Allegations of Systematic Voter Deletions
Sardesai specifically claimed that nearly 4,500 voters in his constituency have been removed from electoral rolls without any proper explanation. He further alleged that these deletions appear to disproportionately affect areas where opposition parties have traditionally shown strong support, raising questions about the fairness of the electoral process.
Questions About Delimitation and Reservation Process
The MLA also raised significant concerns about the special intensive revision exercise currently underway. He pointed out the absence of ward-wise population data for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), questioning how reservation decisions could be made without verified demographic information.
Sardesai emphasized that objections based on geographical continuity in the delimitation process have not been adequately addressed by authorities, creating further uncertainty about the electoral boundaries.
