Nagpur Municipal Corporation Greenlights Major Garden Renovation Project
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has officially sanctioned a significant beautification initiative valued at Rs 16.5 lakh for the Sane Guruji Garden located in the Mahal area. This public garden, situated adjacent to the NMC's zonal office, is set to undergo a comprehensive transformation aimed at boosting its functionality and visual attractiveness for local residents.
Enhanced Recreational and Fitness Amenities Planned
According to municipal officials, the core focus of the project will be on developing superior recreational and fitness infrastructure within the garden premises. A dedicated yoga zone will be established to promote healthier lifestyle practices among citizens in a peaceful outdoor setting. Furthermore, a green gym featuring open-air fitness equipment will be installed to encourage physical activity.
Infrastructure and Safety Upgrades
The NMC has outlined several critical infrastructure improvements as part of this renovation effort:
- Security Enhancements: Existing fencing will be repaired and upgraded to ensure heightened security within the garden area.
- Lighting Improvements: New and improved lighting systems will be installed to enhance safety during early morning and evening hours, making the space more accessible.
- Pathway Restoration: Worn-out pathways throughout the garden will be completely relaid to improve walkability and aesthetics.
- Drainage Solutions: The drainage network will be upgraded to effectively prevent waterlogging issues, particularly during the monsoon season, ensuring year-round usability.
Project Timeline and Broader Vision
The tender for the beautification work has already been floated by the municipal corporation. An official from the NMC's public works department indicated that the project is anticipated to be completed within three to four months following the commissioning phase. This initiative represents a component of the NMC's wider strategy to revitalize gardens and open spaces across Nagpur, with the ultimate goal of providing cleaner, safer, and more engaging public environments for all citizens.
