A two-storey residential building partially collapsed in North Delhi's Roop Nagar area on Thursday afternoon, trapping several individuals before emergency responders successfully rescued all six occupants, including a five-month-old infant and a differently-abled woman. No fatalities were reported, according to the Delhi Fire Service.

Emergency Response and Rescue Operation

The Delhi Fire Service received a distress call at approximately 1:33 pm regarding a house collapse at H. No. 2088, Tilak Chowk, Malka Ganj, near Sabzi Mandi. Fire tenders and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the location. Initial reports indicated that the staircase connecting the first and second floors had collapsed, leaving several occupants stranded on the upper floor.

At around 1:55 pm, officials at the site requested additional manpower along with safety belts to carry out the rescue operation. Multiple fire and rescue units, including water tenders, a rescue tender, and other emergency vehicles, were deployed. The operation was supervised by fire service officers and concluded with all trapped occupants being brought to safety.

Rescued Individuals

A total of six individuals were safely rescued from the building. The rescued persons were identified as Mansi (45), Anjali (24), Payal (21), infant Niru (5 months), and Kavita (40), who is differently abled. A pet dog was also rescued from the premises. The identities of the rescued individuals were confirmed by officials at the scene.

Cause Under Investigation

No fatalities were reported in the incident. The exact cause of the collapse is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation is underway. Authorities have not yet determined whether structural weaknesses, recent construction activity, or other factors contributed to the partial collapse.
