Mumbai's recent municipal elections have placed a spotlight on affluent candidates, with numerous crorepati corporators now poised to assume significant roles within the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. The wealthiest individuals among them include Makarand Suresh Narvekar from the BJP, who declared assets worth Rs 124 crore. Harshita Ashwin Narvekar, also of the BJP, follows with Rs 63.6 crore.

Key Wealthy Winners in Mumbai

Other notable crorepatis elected in Mumbai are Meenal Sanjay Turde from Shiv Sena, with assets of Rs 56 crore, and Tulip Brian Miranda of Congress, holding Rs 51 crore. Anita Nandkumar Vaity from the BJP reported Rs 29 crore, while Yashodhar Phanse of Shiv Sena UBT has Rs 25.9 crore. Bhaskar Rama Shetty from Shiv Sena rounds out the list with Rs 25.4 crore in declared wealth.

Mahayuti Alliance Secures Decisive Wins

The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiv Sena-led Mahayuti alliance achieved clear victories on Friday in several municipal corporations across Maharashtra. Vote counting took place in 29 corporations, with the alliance emerging triumphant in many key areas.

Notable Victories Across the State

In Navi Mumbai, the alliance secured a comfortable majority. The BJP won 65 seats and Shiv Sena took 43 out of a total of 111 seats. Ulhasnagar witnessed the BJP capturing 37 seats and Shinde Sena gaining 36 out of 78 seats.

Panvel and Dhule saw the BJP alone achieving a majority for the Mahayuti. In Panvel, the BJP won 55 of 78 seats, while in Dhule, it secured 50 of 74 seats. Shiv Sena won two seats in Panvel and five in Dhule respectively.

Jalgaon's results showed the BJP securing 46 seats and Shiv Sena 22 out of 75 seats. The saffron alliance performed strongly in Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad as well, where the BJP crossed the majority mark with 39 of 78 seats. Shiv Sena and NCP won two and 16 seats respectively, while Congress took 18 seats.

Further Alliance Successes

In Jalna, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance won 53 of 65 seats, leaving Congress with just nine seats. However, not all corporations saw clear majorities.

Corporations Without Clear Majorities

Bhivandi-Nizampur experienced a fragmented outcome, with no alliance securing the required majority of 45 seats. Congress emerged as the largest party with 32 seats, followed by NCP (SP) with 12, BJP with 22, and Shiv Sena with 12 seats.

Malegaon saw Shiv Sena become the largest party with 18 seats, yet no major party crossed the majority line. In Ahilyanagar, the BJP won 25 seats, NCP secured 27, Sena took 10, Congress gained two, and Shiv Sena (UBT) managed one seat.

These election results highlight a significant shift in Maharashtra's civic landscape, with wealthy candidates gaining prominence and the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance demonstrating strong electoral performance across multiple regions.
