Munger Couple's Valentine's Day Video Triggers Widespread Controversy and Police Action
A video from Munger district in Bihar, recorded during Valentine's Week, has ignited a major controversy after going viral on social media. The clip features a couple engaging in what appears to be a romantic gesture, but it quickly escalated into a legal matter due to its content.
Viral Video Details and Initial Reaction
The video, which was reportedly filmed on Rose Day, February 7, shows Kanchan Kumari presenting a rose to her husband, Rahul Kumar. In a surprising twist, she is then seen offering him a glass of liquor along with the flower. The couple, residents of the Kasim Bazar police station area in Munger, became the center of attention as the video amassed millions of views on a social media platform before being deleted.
Rahul Kumar is identified as a businessman, while Kanchan Kumari is a social media influencer with approximately 299,000 followers on Instagram. She is known for creating content that often involves lip-syncing and dancing to popular Bhojpuri songs. In the viral clip, Kanchan is also observed playfully slapping Rahul on the cheek, with him smiling and reacting to her actions.
Second Video Emerges, Intensifying the Scandal
Shortly after the initial video gained traction, another clip surfaced, further complicating the situation. This second video depicts Kanchan seated inside a beauty parlour, which she owns, holding a pistol and posing for the camera while lip-syncing to a Bhojpuri song. The appearance of the firearm in the video raised serious concerns and prompted immediate police intervention.
Police Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Munger Superintendent of Police Syed Imran Masood confirmed that authorities received information about the videos and launched an investigation. A team was formed under the leadership of the Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer to look into the matter. The investigation team conducted a raid at the couple's residence to gather evidence and ascertain the facts.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the pistol featured in the second video belongs to Vishal Kumar, a resident of Din Dayal Chowk in Munger, who holds a valid licence for the firearm. Police have registered a complaint against the couple—Rahul and Kanchan—as well as against Vishal Kumar, the licensed pistol holder. Authorities are taking legal action against all three individuals based on the viral content.
SP Masood stated, "The pistol used in the video was Vishal's licensed weapon. Action is being initiated against the couple and the pistol holder for their involvement in the creation and dissemination of the controversial videos." Further legal steps are underway as the case continues to develop.
Broader Implications and Public Response
The incident has sparked a debate on social media regarding the boundaries of content creation and the legal ramifications of such actions. The combination of romantic gestures, alcohol, and firearms in the videos has drawn criticism from various quarters, highlighting concerns about public safety and responsible behavior.
As the investigation progresses, the case serves as a reminder of the potential consequences of viral content, especially when it involves elements that may violate laws or societal norms. The police are committed to ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to address the issue and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
