Nashik Implements Night-Only Heavy Traffic Rule on Gavandgaon Route

In a decisive move to tackle persistent traffic congestion, Nashik Collector Ayush Prasad has issued a formal notification imposing strict restrictions on heavy vehicle movement along the critical Yeola-Manmad-Malegaon corridor. Effective from March 24, large commercial vehicles will be permitted to use the Gavandgaon toll plaza only during nighttime hours, specifically between 10 PM and 7 AM.

Court-Ordered Diversions Prompt New Measures

This regulatory action follows a directive from the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court, which has banned heavy traffic on the Autram Ghat route from Sambhajinagar to Dhule. As a result, traffic has been rerouted through alternative paths including Daulatabad T-Point, Devgaon Rangari, Shiur, and Pimparkhed to reach Malegaon. Additional alternative roads previously used by heavy vehicles traveling from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar towards Dhule have also been closed, intensifying the need for streamlined management on the Gavandgaon route.

Exemptions and Infrastructure Updates

Certain essential services are exempt from these restrictions to ensure public safety and continuity. Ambulances, police vehicles, fire tenders, and state transport buses will continue to operate without time constraints. To facilitate compliance and awareness, the Public Works Department (PWD) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have been instructed to install necessary signboards along the affected routes, guiding drivers and minimizing disruptions.
