Nashik Mayor Reaffirms Commitment to Chandshi Development and NMC Inclusion
Nashik Mayor Himgouri Aher-Adke on Tuesday strongly reaffirmed her administration's commitment to providing essential civic amenities to the Chandshi area and actively pushing for its formal inclusion within the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) limits. Addressing a gathering of local residents and community leaders, the mayor emphasized that since a significant majority of the area's population is closely linked to Nashik city, ensuring their comprehensive welfare remains a fundamental moral responsibility of the municipal administration.
Mayor Outlines Development Plans for Chandshi
"People from Chandshi are deeply and closely linked to the city in numerous ways. Hence, the civic body will take all necessary measures required for the holistic development of the entire region. We are currently exploring and evaluating water supply models similar to those successfully implemented in Vilholi and Govardhan to effectively resolve the long-standing water scarcity issue in Chandshi. Additionally, wastewater treatment and management is also prominently on our immediate agenda," Mayor Aher-Adke stated during her address.
Infrastructure and Connectivity Improvements Announced
When specifically asked about connectivity challenges, the mayor promised that the crucial stretch from Ashoka College to Gandhari Bridge would be made fully motorable and significantly safer before the onset of the upcoming monsoon season. She also made a major announcement that the new bridge over the Godavari River — which connects Chandshi directly to Gangapur Road — will be officially inaugurated on May 1, marking a substantial infrastructure milestone.
Deputy Mayor Details Ongoing Projects and Future Steps
Deputy Mayor Vilas Shinde also provided assurances during the gathering, stating that he would personally take proactive steps to ensure Chandshi residents receive easy, reliable, and safe access to Nashik city. "Internal road projects worth Rs14.5 crore, funded through the dedicated initiatives of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, are already actively underway. The civic administration also aims to urgently resolve critical issues regarding sewage drainage systems and the local crematorium facilities," Deputy Mayor Shinde elaborated.
Local Demand for Official Integration into NMC
The villagers and local leaders present at the gathering collectively demanded that Chandshi, which is already functionally a part of Nashik in many aspects, should soon be officially and formally integrated into the civic body to streamline and accelerate its overall development. This integration is seen as essential for coordinated planning and efficient resource allocation.
