Nashik Mayor Demands Urgent Road Repairs to Alleviate Public Inconvenience
In a decisive move to tackle the deteriorating road conditions across Nashik, Mayor Himgauri Aher has issued a strict directive to the Public Works Department (PWD) of the Nashik Municipal Corporation. During a high-level review meeting held on Thursday, the mayor ordered officials to immediately commence comprehensive road repair works throughout the city. This urgent action aims to minimize the significant inconvenience faced by residents due to widespread potholes and uneven surfaces.
Extensive Underground Works Blamed for Road Damage
The review meeting focused on the poor state of city roads, which has been exacerbated by large-scale digging for underground utility projects. Mayor Aher highlighted that extensive excavation for essential services has severely damaged numerous arterial and internal roads. This has resulted in hazardous potholes and rough surfaces, creating daily hardships for motorists and pedestrians alike. The mayor emphasized that the current situation is unacceptable and requires prompt intervention to restore safe and smooth travel.
Delays in Repair Plans Due to Utility Extensions
PWD officials informed the mayor that plans for filling potholes and conducting road repairs at multiple locations had already been finalized. However, the execution of these critical works was delayed because key utility agencies requested extensions to complete their underground cabling projects. Specifically, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) needed additional time to finish their infrastructure upgrades, which postponed the much-needed road restoration efforts.
Mayor Sets Strict Timelines and Quality Standards
In response to these delays, Mayor Himgauri Aher issued clear instructions to ensure all related underground works are completed within the extended timelines. She mandated that road restoration and repair activities must begin immediately thereafter, with no further tolerance for postponements.
