Posters Welcome Nishant Kumar to JD(U) in Patna, Signaling Shift in Party Mood
In a significant political development, posters welcoming Nishant Kumar into the Janata Dal (United) appeared across Patna on Saturday, just a day before his formal induction into the party. The posters, which described his political entry as "the beginning of a new chapter of a developed Bihar", were seen as a clear signal of a shift in mood among party workers. This comes after two days of protests following Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's decision to move to the Rajya Sabha.
Prominent Displays and Worker Sentiments
Several posters were prominently displayed outside the JD(U) office, featuring Nitish Kumar alongside references to Nishant's expected leadership role. Similar messaging was visible inside the party office, where workers indicated that their resentment over Nitish leaving the chief minister's post was being mellowed down by the anticipation of his son's entry into active politics.
Mohammad Ainul Haque, the state vice president of the JD(U) youth wing, elaborated on the changing sentiments. He stated that workers had been angry when news broke about Nitish's Rajya Sabha move, but the mood had shifted with Nishant's impending induction. "Now we are happy that Nishant Ji is joining the party, and we have full hope that he will run the party in a similar way his father did," Haque said. He added that Nitish had assured workers he would continue monitoring the situation and take care of the state.
Expectations and Future Leadership
Naresh Kumar Nirala, a JD(U) worker who traveled from Surajgarha in Lakhisarai to Patna, noted that while the anger had not fully dissipated, it was expected to subside if Nishant takes charge. "But it will subside when Nishant Ji takes over the party's helm and the state's affairs. We expect to see him as the next CM," he said. Nirala mentioned that he rushed to Patna on Friday after hearing the news and was now eagerly waiting for Nishant to assume a leadership role.
The appearance of these posters not only highlights the internal dynamics within the JD(U) but also underscores the party's strategy to bolster morale and prepare for future political transitions in Bihar.
