Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted a detailed inspection of the ambitious underground tunnel project connecting two major cultural landmarks in Patna on Saturday. The CM emphasized the need for timely and quality completion of the work to enhance the experience for visitors.
Focus on Speedy and Quality Construction
During his visit to the construction site at Hartali Mor near Nehru Path, Nitish Kumar instructed the concerned officials to ensure the project is finished swiftly and to a high standard. He stated that special care must be taken in the execution. Once operational, the tunnel will allow tourists and history enthusiasts to move seamlessly between the Bihar Museum and the Patna Museum to view exhibits.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of planning for the expected surge in visitor numbers. He asked the authorities to make comprehensive arrangements for parking and other essential amenities. Furthermore, he gave clear directions that the construction process should not cause any disruption to the traffic flow on the busy Nehru Path.
Review of New Residential Complex
Prior to examining the tunnel, the CM was briefed on the progress of another significant infrastructure project in the vicinity. Officials presented the site plan for the redevelopment of 60 residences and an Officers’ Hostel campus located in front of the Bihar Museum.
The project includes the construction of an 11-storey building that will feature modern facilities. As per the officials, the new complex will have:
- A solar-powered parking shed.
- Open parking spaces.
- A clubhouse.
- Other necessary civic amenities.
Nitish Kumar noted that this multi-storey building along Nehru Path would provide better accommodation for state government officers and urged officials to accelerate the construction pace.
Tour of Bihar Museum Exhibits
Following the inspection, the Chief Minister toured various sections of the Bihar Museum. He visited the first floor to see a photo exhibition dedicated to the ancient Nalanda Mahavihara and the Sanchi Stupa.
He also watched a 3-D film that offers a virtual circumambulation experience of the iconic Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya. The Director General of the Bihar Museum, Anjani Kumar Singh, provided the CM with updates on new exhibits, current tourist footfall, and the existing facilities on the premises.
The inspection was attended by Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, the Principal Secretary to the CM, Deepak Kumar, the Secretary to the CM, Kumar Ravi, along with other senior officials from the concerned departments.
