CM Nitish Kumar Conducts On-Site Inspection of Major Patna Infrastructure Projects
Patna Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday personally inspected the crucial link road currently under construction from Patna Sahib railway station to Patna Ghat. This vital infrastructure is part of the ambitious JP Ganga Path Project located in the Malsalami Maroofganj area of the city.
Directives for Expedited Completion of 1.5-Km Link Road
During his thorough site visit, CM Nitish Kumar issued clear instructions to the officials present, emphasizing the urgent need to complete the construction work expeditiously and within the designated timeframe. The 1.5-kilometer-long link road represents a significant investment of Rs 52.54 crore and is strategically designed to start at Patna Sahib railway station and terminate at Patna Ghat.
"This link road holds immense importance for this entire region," stated Nitish Kumar during his inspection. "Once completed, it will provide substantial convenience to residents for their daily commuting needs. People will finally experience relief from the persistent traffic congestion that plagues this area."
Comprehensive Traffic Relief and Enhanced Connectivity
An official communique released from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) elaborated on the multifaceted benefits of this project. The construction of this link road is expected to provide significant relief from the chronic traffic jam problems affecting Ashok Rajpath and the Maroofganj Mandi area.
Furthermore, the project will establish crucial connectivity from the JP Ganga Path to the new NH-30 through a rail overbridge (RoB) at Patna Sahib railway station. The proposed link road will also facilitate easy access to adjacent areas including Dalhatta, Charkhipar, and several other localities. This comprehensive approach is anticipated to substantially reduce traffic congestion in surrounding neighborhoods while providing enhanced commuting convenience for thousands of residents.
Simultaneous Inspection of Bhadraghat-Didarganj Road Widening
Accompanied by State Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also visited Kangan Ghat to inspect the ongoing four-lane widening and construction work of the Bhadraghat-Didarganj road. During this inspection, he reiterated his directive for timely completion of all construction activities.
The administrative approval for this substantial project amounts to Rs 158.40 crore, covering the widening and construction of a 7.80-kilometer road segment. The work is being executed in four distinct sections:
- Section 1: Bhadraghat to Mirchai Ghat (total length 2.35 km)
- Section 2: Mirchai Ghat to Patna Ghat (total length 1.65 km)
- Section 3: Patna Ghat to Sharifaganj Ghat (1.55 km)
- Section 4: Sharifaganj Ghat to Didarganj (2.25 km)
Transformative Impact on Patna's Traffic Infrastructure
The CMO communique highlighted the proven success of previous infrastructure improvements, noting that the two-lane road between Bhadraghat and Damrahi Ghat had already reduced vehicular pressure on Ashok Rajpath while successfully providing traffic relief to Patna City area residents.
The current expansion to a four-lane road from Bhadraghat to Didarganj is expected to further alleviate vehicular pressure on Ashok Rajpath, providing additional relief from traffic congestion. Beyond daily commuting benefits, this enhanced infrastructure will offer significant convenience for residents traveling to the Ganga river during important religious occasions such as the Chhath Mahaparv and various other religious rituals and social gatherings.
These coordinated infrastructure projects represent a comprehensive approach to addressing Patna's growing traffic challenges while improving connectivity across multiple key areas of the city.
