Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday launched a massive 535 development projects with a total value exceeding Rs 895 crore across Purnia and Katihar districts in Bihar. This significant initiative marked the third phase of his ongoing Samriddhi Yatra, aimed at boosting regional infrastructure and public welfare.

Project Distribution and Key Focus Areas

The projects are strategically divided between the two districts, with 92 schemes worth Rs 485 crore inaugurated in Purnia and 443 projects valued at Rs 410 crore launched in Katihar. These initiatives span critical sectors including road construction, civic infrastructure enhancements, tourism facility development, and administrative building upgrades.

Purnia District: Temple Beautification and Road Projects

Beginning the day's program in Purnia, CM Nitish Kumar visited the Maa Puran Devi Temple premises to review ongoing beautification and development works. After a thorough inspection, he directed officials to improve both construction quality and pace, emphasizing the need for devotee convenience and timely completion of all schemes to maximize public benefit.

Key inaugurations in Purnia included:

  • Remote inauguration of two previously announced road projects from the Pragati Yatra: a newly constructed two-lane road connecting State Highway-60 to Maa Puran Devi Temple, and strengthening of the road from Line Bazaar Chowk to Polytechnic Chowk via Rajni Chowk.
  • Foundation stone laying for a bypass road with rail overbridge from Bhutaha Mor to Millia Polytechnic College via Purnia Srinagar Path.
  • Launch of widening and strengthening work for the road from SH-65 at Banbhag Chowk to Bishanpur Dharmkanta with two-lane paved shoulder.

The CM also inspected the renovated and beautified pond within the temple premises, developed under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan, and visited a stall set up by Bihar Bal Bhavan Kilkari. Local artists welcomed him with a traditional Jhijhiya dance performance earlier in the day.

Review of Pragati Yatra Announcements and Future Projects

Nitish Kumar reviewed a detailed presentation on projects announced during the Pragati Yatra, seeking updates from officials on various initiatives including:

  1. Construction of a dam-cum-road on the Karikoshi River in Katra block.
  2. Development of an inter-state bus terminal, Rang Bhoomi ground, and a sports complex with multipurpose hall in Purnia.
  3. Four-laning of the Dhamdaha–Purnia SH-65 stretch with direct connectivity to Purnia airport.
  4. Construction of the Bhutaha bypass road and direct connectivity from SH-65 to Kazhakothi premises.
  5. Road construction and tourism facility development modeled after Mithila Haat.
  6. New block-cum-anchal office buildings in Amour, Kasba, Krityanand Nagar, Dhamdaha, Purnia, Banmankhi, Rupauli, Baysi, Baisa, and Badharakothi blocks.

Katihar District: Agricultural Infrastructure and Project Monitoring

Later in the day, the Chief Minister proceeded to Katihar district, where he inspected several ongoing projects and sought implementation updates on Pragati Yatra announcements. He directed officials to expedite completion of all works.

Notable activities in Katihar included:

  • Inauguration of renovation and construction work for Krishi Utpadan Prangan, Katihar (Phase-2), built at a cost of Rs 7,058.49 lakh.
  • Inspection of the newly constructed building and its facilities to ensure quality standards.

This comprehensive development push underscores the Bihar government's commitment to enhancing infrastructure and public amenities across the state's eastern districts, with a clear focus on timely execution and community benefit.
