Aurangabad District Receives Major Development Boost
The neighboring Aurangabad district witnessed the inauguration of 79 development projects that have been completed with an expenditure of Rs 127 crore. Furthermore, CM Nitish Kumar initiated 116 new schemes in Aurangabad, with an estimated budget of Rs 426 crore. Among the notable projects highlighted were the establishment of a new medical college, a modern sports complex, and a state-of-the-art trauma center, all designed to enhance public services and community well-being.
Political Leadership Highlights Governance Achievements
During public addresses in Mayapur (Gaya) and Munshi Bigha (Aurangabad), Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, accompanied by Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary and Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, delivered speeches emphasizing the transformative governance under his administration. Nitish Kumar extensively contrasted the pre-2005 era of Bihar with the current developmental landscape, citing substantial progress in infrastructure, education, and social harmony.
The CM specifically underscored initiatives like the Poshak Yojana and the bicycle scheme for girl students, which have significantly advanced girls' education across the state. He also highlighted efforts to promote women entrepreneurship through various incentive programs. In a notable mention, Nitish Kumar pointed to measures fostering communal harmony, including the fortification of Muslim graveyards and the construction of boundaries around temples over 60 years old.
Educational and Employment Advancements Detailed
Reeling off impressive statistics, the Chief Minister revealed that in the initial phase, 3.68 lakh contractual teachers were appointed, with the majority now absorbed into permanent government service. Efforts are ongoing to integrate the remaining teachers through a streamlined testing process. Additionally, 2.66 lakh teachers have been recruited via examinations conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), and the process to appoint another 45,000 educators has commenced.
"We are committed to creating one crore job opportunities within the next five years," declared Nitish Kumar, outlining an ambitious employment generation roadmap.
Infrastructure and Utility Expansions Highlighted
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary elaborated on the state's infrastructural leaps, noting that road length has surged from a mere 6,000 km before 2005 to an impressive 1.46 lakh km today. The state budget has similarly expanded from Rs 23,000 crore in 2005 to Rs 3.5 lakh crore for the financial year 2026-27.
Electricity access has seen a dramatic improvement, with connections rising from 17 lakh in 2005 to 2.16 crore in 2026. Approximately 90% of power consumers now benefit from zero electricity bills, thanks to the CM's 125-unit free electricity scheme. Samrat Choudhary drew a parallel, stating that while PM Narendra Modi envisioned power for every village, CM Nitish Kumar enhanced this by ensuring it reaches every household.
Regional Development Projects Announced
In Aurangabad, the Deputy CM announced that chemically treated water from the Sone River has been made available for drinking purposes in Aurangabad and Sasaram. He also confirmed that the North Koel irrigation project is slated for completion within the next six months, promising enhanced agricultural productivity.
The event in Gaya was graced by the presence of Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar, underscoring the collective political commitment to regional development. This Samriddhi Yatra stop reaffirms the state government's focus on holistic growth, blending infrastructure development with social welfare and educational empowerment.
