NMC Chairperson, Corporator Take Charge as NIT Trustees

Nagpur: In a significant development for urban development in the city, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) standing committee chairperson Shivani Dani Wakhare and corporator Sheshrao Gotmare assumed charge as trustees of the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) on Monday. The duo was officially welcomed by Mayor Neeta Thakre and district collector-cum-NIT in-charge chairman Kumar Ashirwad during a brief ceremony held at the NIT office.

Wakhare's Vision and Priorities

Expressing her gratitude to the party leadership for entrusting her with this responsibility, Wakhare stated that she would work diligently to justify the faith reposed in her. She outlined several key priorities, including resolving issues related to Gond Raja Samadhi, the development of Deekshabhoomi, addressing unauthorised layouts, and expediting other pending projects. Wakhare emphasized that these initiatives would be undertaken with a focus on transparency and efficiency.

Gotmare's Commitment

Gotmare also expressed his gratitude to the leadership and assured that he would discharge his duties with full commitment. He identified unauthorised layouts and other pending matters as priority areas requiring immediate attention. Both trustees pledged to work collaboratively with the NIT administration to ensure timely completion of projects.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including deputy mayor Leela Hathibed, leader of the house Narendra Borkar, former legislators Anil Sole and Milind Mane, former mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, and numerous committee chairpersons and corporators. A large number of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers also attended the event, reflecting the political significance of the occasion.

The assumption of charge by Wakhare and Gotmare is expected to bring renewed focus to the NIT's functioning, particularly in addressing long-pending issues and accelerating development works in Nagpur. Their roles as trustees will involve overseeing the trust's operations and ensuring that projects align with the city's growth requirements.
