Odisha Government Announces Minor IAS Officer Reshuffle

The government of Odisha has implemented a minor administrative reshuffle involving several Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. The changes, announced on Thursday, affect key positions across multiple departments, including district administration, cooperative societies, and industrial development.

New Appointment for Malkangiri District

In a significant move, Prathamesh Arvind Rajeshirke, a 2021-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the new collector of Malkangiri district. Prior to this assignment, Rajeshirke was serving as the commissioner of Berhampur Municipal Corporation. He also held the additional charge of vice-chairman of the Berhampur Development Authority.

The incumbent Malkangiri collector, Somesh Kumar Upadhyay, has been reassigned. Upadhyay has been posted as the director of textiles and handlooms for the state of Odisha.

Other Key Administrative Changes

The reshuffle includes several other important reassignments:

  • Manish Agarwal, who was serving as additional special relief commissioner with additional charge of additional secretary in the planning and convergence department, has been appointed as the registrar of cooperative societies for Odisha.
  • Smruti Ranjan Pradhan, additional secretary in the forest, environment and climate change department, has been named the managing director of the Odisha Small Industries Corporation. He will also hold the additional charge as chief executive officer of Startup Odisha. With this appointment, the additional charge previously held by Rashmita Panda as CEO of Startup Odisha has been terminated.
  • Siddhartha Das, the former registrar of cooperative societies, has been posted as the director of fisheries for Odisha, based in Cuttack.
  • Madhusmita Sahoo, additional secretary in the revenue and disaster management department with additional charge of director of the Revenue Officers’ Training Institute, has been appointed as the director of Teachers’ Education and the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) for Odisha. She will continue to hold the additional charge as additional secretary in the school and mass education department.

These administrative changes are part of the government's routine efforts to optimize officer placements and ensure efficient governance across various sectors. The reshuffle aims to bring fresh perspectives and expertise to critical roles within the state's administrative framework.
