Jharsuguda: The Orient police in Jharsuguda district have successfully dismantled an inter-state two-wheeler theft racket that was involved in stealing and selling motorcycles across Odisha and Chhattisgarh, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
The accused have been identified as Jajbir Singh (35), a resident of Mandalia village under Orient police limits in Jharsuguda district, and Mann Kumar Ram (44), a resident of Ghatmunda village in Chhattisgarh. According to police officials, the duo operated a well-organized network that targeted two-wheelers from various locations, subsequently selling them in different states to evade detection.
Police investigations revealed that the racket had been active for several months, with the suspects using forged documents to register stolen vehicles. The breakthrough came following a tip-off and subsequent surveillance, leading to the arrest of the two individuals. During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in multiple thefts across the region.
The police have recovered several stolen motorcycles from their possession and are working to trace the original owners. Further investigations are underway to identify any other accomplices and to uncover the full extent of the racket's operations. The authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to vehicle theft.
This successful operation highlights the effectiveness of coordinated police efforts in combating organized crime in the region.
