Two prominent candidates, Ramesh Pisharody of the United Democratic Front (UDF) and Major Ravi of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), have officially commenced their election campaigns in the Palakkad constituency. Ramesh Pisharody's Homecoming Campaign
Ramesh Pisharody, contesting as a Congress candidate under the official party symbol, described his candidacy as a homecoming. He emphasized his deep roots in the region, stating, "I am a native of Kuzhalmannam in Palakkad. We moved to Kochi after my father joined a paper company at Velloor following his retirement from the air force." Pisharody expressed immense pride in representing the Congress party and highlighted his local connections as a significant advantage.
When questioned about his campaign strategy, Pisharody revealed a unique approach. "I don't have a specific strategy for the election campaign. I don't need to introduce myself to people. I believe this will help me a lot compared to other candidates," he told reporters. He further clarified his stance on a recent controversy, asserting that he never supported Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil after police booked him in a sexual assault case, distancing himself from the issue.
Major Ravi's Roadshow and Development Promises
Meanwhile, Major Ravi, the NDA candidate from Ottapalam, is gearing up for a major roadshow scheduled for Friday. He expressed gratitude for the warm reception received during his initial campaign activities. "I am grateful at the warm reception at Ottapalam and the energetic road show in the assembly constituency yesterday. Thanks to BJP supporters and the public for their support," he stated.
Addressing voters directly, Major Ravi made a bold promise regarding development in the constituency. "If I win, I will guarantee I will convince Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help in the development programmes in my constituency," he declared. He called for collective efforts, urging, "Let's work together to make Ottapalam a better place for all." His campaign focuses on leveraging central government support for local progress.
