AIADMK Leader Palaniswami Escalates Criticism of DMK Government
In a vigorous campaign rally held in Sivakasi, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami launched a sharp attack on the ruling DMK government, accusing it of severe failures in maintaining law and order, widespread corruption, and engaging in dynastic politics. The event marked a significant escalation in political rhetoric as elections approach.
Symbolic Gesture Highlights Women's Safety Concerns
During his speech, Palaniswami displayed a white t-shirt gifted by a group of young girls, which bore handwritten messages reading "Only AIADMK government can ensure women's safety" and "DMK should not return to power." He emphasized that even children are deeply worried about safety issues under the current administration. "This shows how concerned our young generation is about their security," Palaniswami stated, urging voters to support the AIADMK alliance to guarantee safety for all citizens.
Accusations of Drug Menace and Development Stagnation
Palaniswami further criticized the DMK government for its alleged inaction against drug trafficking, promising that an AIADMK administration would eradicate ganja and other illegal substances within three months of taking office. He also highlighted the stalled ₹14,000 crore Cauvery-Gundar river linking project, accusing the DMK of deliberately obstructing this crucial initiative. "By halting this project, the DMK has proven it is against the interests of farmers," he declared, vowing to revive the scheme to benefit districts like Virudhunagar, where he campaigned.
Campaign Expansion and Organizational Moves
Later in the day, Palaniswami continued his campaign in Ramanathapuram district, reiterating these key issues. Simultaneously, he announced the appointment of senior party officials as election in-charges for constituencies where AIADMK has fielded candidates. This strategic move aims to streamline campaign management at the grassroots level, demonstrating the party's focused efforts as the election nears.
