A significant legal battle has unfolded in Pune concerning a high-value land transaction. Amadea Enterprises LLP, a firm where Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's son, Parth Pawar, is a partner, has initiated a special civil suit in a city court. The lawsuit targets power of attorney holder Sheetal Tejwani and 272 watandars, or original land holders, seeking the cancellation of a sale deed for a land parcel in Mundhwa.
The Legal Move and Court Proceedings
On December 20, the firm approached the court through its designated partner, Digvijay Patil. The suit was filed under Section 31 of the Specific Relief Act, 1963. This legal provision allows individuals or entities to seek the cancellation of a written document, such as a sale deed, if it is considered void or voidable and poses a threat of serious harm if it remains in effect.
The court has scheduled the next hearing in this matter for January 15. Representing Amadea Enterprises, lawyer Bhalchandra Nikte confirmed the filing of the suit for cancellation of the deed but refrained from discussing specific details of the case publicly.
Background: Arrests and Alleged Irregularities
This civil suit follows closely on the heels of a criminal investigation. On December 3, Pune Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) arrested Sheetal Tejwani (44). The arrest was connected to alleged irregularities involving two illegal orders issued by suspended tehsildar Suryakant Yeole. These orders reportedly granted ownership rights of government land parcels in Mundhwa and Bopodi to private parties.
Tejwani stands accused of entering into a deal worth Rs 300 crore with Amadea Enterprises LLP for the Mundhwa land parcel. While Parth Pawar has not been named in the First Information Report (FIR) related to this case, his business partner, Digvijay Patil, is named as an accused.
Multiple Legal Entanglements
The legal complexities surrounding this land deal extend beyond the civil suit and the EOW case. Both Sheetal Tejwani and Digvijay Patil are also accused in a separate stamp duty waiver case linked to the same land transaction. This case is registered at the Bavdhan police station.
Currently, Sheetal Tejwani remains in police custody remand under the Bavdhan police. The intertwining civil and criminal proceedings highlight the serious nature of the allegations, which involve substantial government land and crores of rupees.
The outcome of the court hearing on January 15 will be a crucial next step in this unfolding story, which connects high-profile political families, alleged land fraud, and significant financial stakes.
