In a move to manage the expected surge of visitors for the concluding days of the popular Bihar Saras Mela, the Patna Traffic Police have rolled out a detailed special traffic plan. This arrangement, slated for December 27 and 28, 2025, aims to ensure smooth vehicular flow and safety around the Gandhi Maidan fair venue during the final weekend.
Key Restrictions and Vehicle Diversions
The core of the plan involves a complete prohibition on the movement of all commercial vehicles, including auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws, in the immediate vicinity of the fair. Authorities have identified several critical points where diversions will be strictly enforced to implement this ban.
According to the official guidelines, auto-rickshaws arriving from Danapur via Rajapur Pul will be diverted back towards Danapur from the Police Line Tiraha. Similarly, autos and e-rickshaws coming from Gaighat towards Gandhi Maidan on Ashok Rajpath via Kargil Chowk will be turned back from the western end of the double-decker flyover, redirecting them towards Gaighat.
Specific Route Closures and Turnaround Points
The traffic police have provided explicit instructions for various approach roads to prevent congestion. Auto-rickshaws will not be allowed to proceed northwards from Bhattacharya Square towards Gandhi Maidan via Exhibition Road. Vehicles approaching from SP Verma Road will only be permitted up to Swaminandan Tiraha; beyond that, they must return via Bata Mor.
Furthermore, the movement of these vehicles is banned on several other stretches:
- Budh Marg and Chhajjubagh to TN Banerjee Path.
- Bank Road from Police Line Gate No. 1.
- Auto-rickshaw operations from Budh Marg Police Line Tiraha to Kotwali T-Point.
For autos and e-rickshaws operating from Machhua Toli, the restriction point is set at Thakurbari Mor on Bari Path for turnaround. Officials have stressed that under no circumstances will these vehicles be allowed to proceed towards Gandhi Maidan and Bakarganj.
Parking Regulations and Visitor Advisory
Earlier directives focused on managing entry and parking within the Gandhi Maidan premises. The police have mandated that visitors use Gate No. 10 for entry and park only within the designated areas inside the maidan. The authorities have issued a stern warning against roadside or unauthorized parking, stating that violators will face legal action, including fines and the towing of their vehicles.
Traffic officials have earnestly appealed to the public, especially those visiting the Bihar Saras Mela, to cooperate with the police personnel on duty. They urge visitors to plan their journey in advance, avoid the restricted routes, and adhere to the parking rules for a hassle-free experience during the bustling weekend.
